Fashion Friday

Okay, this isn't fashion for me. :) This is from Gymboree and I think it would be a perfect First Day of School outfit for Brady in August.

Headbands

So yesterday my friend Shannon commented that hats and fascinators aren't kind to curly-headed girls like ourselves and she's right. I found a solution to that problem! Answer - the head band! No, not the big head bands that Hillary Clinton use to wear.

Yikes! Modern headbands are much less tacky these days. From delicate flowers to sassy ruffles, there is something for everyone.

Nordstrom

Gussy Sews

Target (This one I actually own)

So if you don't feel ready to take on a fascinator for church this Sunday or if you have curly locks and don't want to face hat head, try a flowered headband! I did!

What Would Kate Do?

Kate Middleton is my newest style obsession! She's so gorgeous, so classic and so gracious. And I really wish that hats and fascinators would come in style over here in the States.

Fashion Friday

You know what is torture? Looking at gorgeous clothes online and knowing you can't wear them because your current wardrobe consists of elastic waistbands and will continue in that manner until April or so.

That being said, maternity clothes have come a long way since our mothers were pregnant with us. No more sailor collars, tent dresses and buttons spelling "baby." Thank goodness! Otherwise the fashion choices alone might have deterred me from having children. Just kidding! Sort of.

When I was pregnant with Brady, I had great luck with the maternity lines at Gap and Old Navy. They haven't let me down this time around either! I've already picked up jeans and your basic long-sleeve tees and a few dresses since I was ready for maternity pants alone at 12 weeks. Here is what is on my current wish list:

Ruffle Print Top

Wouldn't this be cute with black pants for church or work?

V-Neck Argyle Sweater

Perfect with jeans

Cable Knit Sweater

I actually bought this sweater in green earlier this week, but the red is really bright and cheery and will look great at some of those casual Christmas events coming up.

Rosette Cardigan

LOVE IT! That's really all I have to say about that

Cowl Neck Tunic

This looks really comfortable.

Printed Ruched Dress

All you need is tights and boots.

So that's my list for right now. Some people say it's silly to spend a lot on clothes that you'll only wear for a few months, but places like Old Navy, Gap and even Target offer affordable options that resell well. And if there's any time we need to feel good about ourselves, it's when we're pregnant, right???!!!!

Happy Friday!

More spring goodies

All of these spring clothes are just killing me! Well, figuratively, not literally. It would be a shame to die from lack of a white blouse. Can you imagine the obit? I can't!
Ann Taylor Loft has this:

and this:

and this! Can you tell it's my favorite store?

Is it spring yet?

It’s gray and dreary and very January-like here this week, so that has prompted me to do some early spring shopping (thanks to some gift cards from Christmas!).

I got this pomegranate lantern-sleeved top from Ann Taylor Loft

And this ruched neck cardigan, too

I got this denim shirtdress from Target. Trust me, it looks much better in person and when you’re actually wearing it. I’m thinking some cute wedge sandals for spring and summer to wear with it.

I haven’t bought this yet, but it’s next on my list. From Old Navy.

Have you done any spring shopping yet?

Golden Globes Fashion Review

So who watched the Golden Globes on Sunday night? I love award shows, so this is my favorite time of year, and the Globes did not disappoint!

My favorites

Eva Longoria Parker

I think she’s gorgeous!

Amy Adams

I love the dress, but I wish they had pulled her hair up off her face.

Sandra Bullock

I’m so happy to see her back on the red carpet. She’s such a breath of fresh air.

Christina Applegate

She looks amazing considering the year she had. I so wish I could wear yellow.

Anne Hathaway

What color is this dress? Blue or purple? I think this may be one that showed up better in person than on camera, but she still looks great.

Kate Winslet

Perfection! I absolutely love her!

The Worst

Drew Barrymore

I’m still a little undecided on this, but the hair definitely pushes it into the worst column.

Renee Zweleger

Two words: Train Wreck! Carolina Herrera disappointed here.

Monday, Monday

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was okay.......... Brady had a virus. I don't think I've ever talked about diarrhea as much as I have this weekend! But, he seems to be almost back to normal now.

I did order this great dress from Ann Taylor Loft as an early Christmas present! It looks green in the picture, but it's just black and white. I tried it on in the store and it's so cute! I had a 30% off code, so I ordered it online.
We have a busy week ahead with Thanksgiving coming up. Have a great day!

Things I'm Loving These Days

Here are a few things I’m loving these days:

Taylor Swift’s new album. She may be ten years younger than me, but I’m just loving her new cd. Part of it makes me feel like I’m in high school again, but that’s a good thing. You need that some days! It’s a really emotional album, though. I highly recommend it!

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I’ve been watching this every year at Thanksgiving as long as I can remember and now Brady loves it, too.

A new hair cut. I got my hair cut yesterday and it’s amazing how good a new do can make you feel.

My Gobble Gobble tee from Old Navy. McMommy got this shirt first and then I went out and bought it. It’s so cute, but not “Christmas sweater obnoxious.” Thanks, McMommy, for telling us about it!

Shopping!

Hey all! My Southern Living at Home party was a smashing success! I ended up with $170 of free items! And we know it's all about the free stuff! Just kidding............really! But I had 9 great friends who attended and it was fun to have girls over and get to look at great home items, too. I did decide to go with a different set of dishes - the Hospitality collection in Butter, a really pretty yellow shade. They had it staged in such a pretty way in the fall catalog. I also got the platter that I showed in my other post.

Here are a few things I got at Ann Taylor Loft this past weekend:

After I get Brady's fall shopping finished, I plan on doing some more for me!

Happy Monday!

Dreaming of leaves and cool breezes

Wouldn’t this be so cute for fall with tights, boots and a cute sweater?

And I love this new print from Vera Bradley:

Can you tell I’m just dying for some cool weather outfits?

The girls are back!

Can I tell ya’ll just how excited I am about this movie?????

I always wanted to be Carrie, but I’m much more of a Charlotte.

Early Birthday Present

My darling mother is getting me this as an early birthday present:

Isn't it the cutest thing? It's very lightweight, so it will be perfect for wearing to work in the summer when the a/c is blasting.
I love birthdays, especially when they come a month early!

More Spring fashion!

More spring fashion finds!
Okay, I seriously need to stop shopping. Here are a few things I picked up this week:

This skirt from Target. I also got an elbow-length sleeve light blue tee to go with it.

This shirt and sweater from Ann Taylor Loft. They don’t look like much by themselves, but in the store they had the shirt under the sweater with the sleeves rolled up and it was so cute! I think they’ll be perfect for the Easter egg hunt on the 22nd!

Speaking of the Easter egg hunt, I’m in charge of the snacks. I was going to bake cupcakes myself, but we’re super busy that week and the night before I’m going to see Casting Crowns, so there’s no way I could make them unless I stayed up all night. So, I’m outsourcing! Gretchen ABS Cakes, who has done all of Brady’s birthday cakes, is going to do them. The cost is really reasonable, especially considering how much time I’ll save. There will also be some candy and maybe goldfish crackers. We keep it pretty simple. I’m so excited about it!

Who says you're too old for an Easter dress?

I found my Easter dress! Yes, I'm almost 28 years old, but I still love getting something special and new for that very special day in spring. No more patient leather shoes or matching gloves, though!

Here it is:

Here are two other spring fashion finds that I have on my list:

I like this one because it has 3/4 sleeves, so I won't freeze at work in the summer.
