Wonderful Wednesday

Hello! Yes, I survived my long weekend. It was busy, but relaxing at the same time. Does that make sense? We visited with some friends, took the inlaws downtown, went to church, played outside, went to the zoo, watched movies and ate lots of good food!

I love holidays because they usually provide opportunities to get extra sleep. Thankfully, Brady has taken after me and loves to sleep in. That would explain why we didn’t get up until almost 9am on Monday morning.

Now we’re two days closer to the weekend and I can’t wait. Tonight I’m starting a new Bible study – Believing God by Beth Moore. This will be the third Beth Moore study I’ve done. I’m so excited! We have a great moderator (I guess that’s what you would call her) and a great group of women, so I really enjoy it.

Thanks to President Bush, our stimulus check arrived yesterday. Since we paid our fees through Turbo Tax, we had to wait until after all the direct deposit people got theirs to get our old-fashioned paper check. Oh well, it came at the right time. Brady’s birthday party is next week and the extra money will go to good use.

Ya’ll have a great Wednesday!

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope everyone has a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend. Spend time with your friends and family and eat lots of good food, but don't spend all your money on gas! Heehee!

Dancing with the Stars

Did anyone else grow up watching Kristi Yamaguichi figure skate? I always wanted to be her, gliding around in my sequined outfit and doing all those jumps and turns and winning the gold medal. She was so sweet and charming and funny and she still is.

So I was very happy to see her win Dancing with the Stars last night. She and her partner were just fabulous. I wish I could dance like that!

Weekend Recap

Good morning! We made it through the weekend. We were busy, but it was nice and relaxing at the same time. Does that make sense? Here’s what’s left on my To Do list:

- Clean out our files and organize my desk
- Sort magazines
- Call my grandparents
- Visit my friend who just had a baby and take her some muffins

So I have a few more things to do this week. We ended up going to a local strawberry festival rather than actually picking the strawberries. These have to be the reddest, juicest, sweetest strawberries I’ve ever had. We’ve been eating strawberry shortcake all weekend.

Brady had a fantastic time at Mike and Ashley’s and even ended up spending the night on Friday. He was a bit spoiled by the time we got him back, though!

Brady also got his first sprinkler this weekend. We hooked it up for just a few minutes to show him what it did and he walked right through it. He loved it! I can see many hot summer afternoons spent with this thing.

Did everyone else have a good weekend, too? Happy Monday!

Finally Friday!

Happy Friday! Oh, how glad I am to be at the end of this week. It’s been good, but crazy busy.

So what does everyone have planned for this beautiful May weekend? Today is payday (yeah!), so I have those errands to run during lunch. After work we’re dropping Brady off at our friend’s house and then going to a Sunday School social at the home of our former interim pastor. He and his wife are AMAZING and I have to say that even though we love our new pastor, we miss our interim terribly. Anyway, they live about 45 minutes away up in the mountains and I knew it would be better for everyone (us and Brady) if he didn’t go along. I’d spend the entire evening chasing him and worrying he would break something and then I’d get angry and aggravated and we’d leave early and everyone would be mad. So……….I’m just avoiding that entirely. Plus Brady will have great fun with Mike and Ashley and won’t even miss us.

This weekend doesn’t have anything officially scheduled other than church, but I do have a To Do list a mile long. It includes:
- Grocery shopping
- Put out our patriotic decorations (I have them out from Memorial Day thru the 4th of July)
- Clean out the laundry room
- Weed the front flower bed
- Change the shower curtain liner
- Write a thank you note to the salesman at Carmax who helped us so much
- Clean out our files and organize my desk
- Sort magazines and make a stack to take to a nursing home or hospital
- Drop off the recycling
- Call my grandparents
- Visit my friend who just had a baby and take her some muffins

I also want to take Brady strawberry picking and try my hand at freezer jam. All of that will be more than enough to keep us busy, I believe. Plus my inlaws are moving to town this weekend and will arrive either Sunday evening or sometime on Monday. Gotta gear up for that as well.

I’ll let you know on Monday how much of this I actually accomplish. Have a fabulous weekend! I hope you do lots of fun stuff!

Puggles Gone Bad

Last night was the end-of-the-year program for Awanas at church. In case you don’t know what Awanas is, go here for a summary. Brady is in the Puggles class, which is for kids 18mo-2 years. Great teachers, great group of kids. He has a ball and learns so much about God.

The program was really good, or at least what I saw of it. They gave the Puggles their certificates first. They called all the parents up on stage with the Puggles, so I didn't get to take pictures but the woman I had been sitting with grabbed my camera and got a few. My child was the only one who wouldn’t stand with us and accept his certificate. He was too busy trying to dig into the little plastic bucket filled with candy. Have you ever had one of those moments where you know everyone is looking at you? And not in a good way? That’s how I felt up there trying to wrangle my child while all the other ones stood by angelically. I could feel my face getting hot and I started to sweat. Ugh.

Then someone made the decision to keep the Puggles up in the sanctuary for the rest of the program. Brady did not handle that well. He wanted to eat all his candy and then run back and forth from me to DH, who was sitting in the front helping with his class. I finally ended up taking him out, then Ashlyana (another Puggle) melted down so I just took her and Brady back to the room so her mom could watch the rest of the program (they have a little boy in Cubbies). The new pastor’s wife ended up down there with her little boy, so I got to know her a little bit, which was nice. But by that time I had a splitting headache. Splitting. Just chop my head off.

After DH got Brady and Ashlyana’s mom got her, I had my Foundations Committee meeting to attend. I'm not sure the entire scope of this committee, but we're planning things like the summer socials, New Member's class, men's and women's retreats, etc. I got home around 9:00pm, but we didn't get to bed until 11pm, Brady included. That might have had something to do with all the candy he got last night. So........................

Hopefully next year will be better. Brady will be a Cubbie and will have verses to say and songs to sing. I’ll make sure to wear extra deodorant to that program!

Hello Bloggers!

Happy Tuesday, bloggers! How’s it going?

I’m taking a break from my blogging vacation to check in. Things are very busy around our household right. Lots of end-of-year activities and spring events. My inlaw’s are also moving to town in a week, so I’ll soon be occupied getting them settled.

DH is playing softball for the church, so he has a couple of games a week. Brady and I go as often as possible, but some games don’t start until 9:30pm. Isn’t that crazy? Of course, Brady’s been going to bed pretty late these past few nights, so it probably wouldn’t really matter anyway.

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother’s Day this past weekend. My boys gave me a card and cooked me dinner and I even got to take a nap! We went down to my parent’s house on Saturday for my sister’s graduation dinner. That was a lot of fun. Brady definitely enjoyed his time with Uncle Jourdan.

Other big news is we got a new car! It’s a 2006 PT Cruiser and I love it. It’s so fun and sassy and cute. We needed something newer with a little more room, but nothing huge, and this fits the bill perfectly.

Hopefully I’ll be blogging more regularly again here soon. I’ve missed ya’ll!

Have a great week!

Taking a blogging break

Hello! I'm going to be taking a bit of a blogging break here. We have a lot on our plate these next few weeks, so I'll be gone a bit.

Talk to you all soon!
