Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me!

My own little pirate is turning 5 in June, so we're gearing up for a pirate-themed swim party at the local YMCA!

This is the cake

We just can't wait! We're serving pizza, cake and ice cream. The party favors are pirate hooks and eye patches for the big kids and for the little brothers and sisters, sand buckets with shovels and bubbles.
I've been busy pulling together decorations and paper products. I need to find some good pirate music to play in the background. Any suggestions? Maybe the soundtrack to Pirates of the Caribbean? Too bad Captain Jack can't make the festivities!

A fabulous weekend

We had a truly fabulous weekend. I spent the night on Friday with some of my very best girlfriends, then it was on to Brady's t-ball game and a very laid-back rest of the weekend with my two favorite boys.

Brady broke in his new pool. He looks pretty excited, doesn't he?

Where I've Been These Past Few Months

We've been busy these last few months, which is obvious due to my lack of posts.

So what have we been doing?

Some of this

And this

This, too

We went here

And did this

And played this

And ate here

So it's been a busy spring in our neck of the woods! I'll do my best to post more regularly (I say that every time), but we have more busy days ahead. Happy Spring everyone!

Monthly Update

I know, I know. It's been almost a month since my last update. :)

We're doing really well on our healthy eating. We've now made the move to organic fruit and veggies ( at least for the "dirty dozen") and we've also been buying organic milk. I've seen an amazing difference in how I feel! I'm sleeping better now than I have in ages! Is it directly in response to changing our eating habits? At least partially!

I've also recommitted to Weight Watchers and I've lost 6.5 pounds since Christmas. Taking into account we had a snowed-in weekend where the diet went totally out the window and some special events, I'm very pleased with the progress. The Shredding has been hit or miss, so I'm trying to get back on the wagon with that one.

We're also doing better on slowing down. That was one of my big goals. I'm not exactly sure how I've done it, though!

The budget is coming along. Every dollar has a name now, for the most part. There are still little things that come up, but overall it's a much more workable budget for us.

That's where we are right now. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do a fun post soon!

Happy Wednesday!

How the years fly by

If you're my friend on Facebook, you already know this, but I JUST REGISTERED MY BABY FOR KINDERGARTEN!!!!!

How did this happen? It seems like just yesterday he was born and I was spending all my spare time reading that free parenting book that Publix sent me (which is awesome, by the way!) and worrying that he wasn't rolling over when he should. And now, in just a few months, he'll be walking into elementary school, ready to take on the world.

Really, I'm okay! I promise!

Okay, got myself back together now. At least until March 26th when we take the school tour!

How Cute!

If I had a baby bump (which I do not!), I would love to look like Amy Adams. Doesn't she look adorable? Carolina Herrara designed her a custom maternity wardrobe to wear while promoting her new movie "Leap Year." The movie looks super cute, by the way.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! We're off to Columbia to the Edventure Children's Museum tomorrow.

CH-CH-CH-CH-CHANGES

One of my goals for this year is implementing and maintaining a regular exercise plan and better eating habits for my family.

So far we’re doing good with the regular exercise plan. The Monday after Christmas I started Shredding again. I did this last year and saw amazing results. Plus, it’s only 25 minutes a day and everyone can find 25 minutes to better their health. Even me! I’ve been aiming for at least 5 days a week and I’ve already lost two pounds! Brady’s started his swim classes and loves them. He’s a little fish! And on the days that DH takes him, he swims while Brady is in class.

As far as eating better, we’re gradually making changes. I’ve already started buying most of our meat from Whole Foods. The difference is amazing. Eventually, I would love to buy from a local farmer. We’ll need to get a second freezer to do that, though. Starting this week, I plan on buying organic milk. Brady loves milk and drinks a lot of it, and I would prefer him to drink the best milk possible.

That’s where we are with those goals so far. Happy Second Week of 2010!
